Luck or success?

If you change your business process and it seems to work - how do you know it was luck or success? Of course the only way to know this is to measure your success and to understand the system.

Sounds simple but how many people do you know that do it?

  2. Thanks Steve, I find this area of business research very interesting.

    Traditionally, the effectiveness of initiatives are determined by evaluations and monitoring systems, but they tend to only exist when things don't go right, not undertaken to study why things turned out right.

    Also following on the idea of 'understanding the system', I believe that one must ensure that the symbolic model used for analyzing business behaviour must be an accurate representation of the real business world?
